Kodo millet burger is a healthy and tasty twist on the classic burger, made using a soft or lightly crisp patty prepared from cooked kodo millet blended with vegetables, herbs, and mild spices, layered inside a bun or served as a bun-less option. The patty has a pleasant earthy flavor and hearty texture, making the burger both filling and satisfying without being heavy.

Ingredients

  1. Patty
  2. 1/2 cup kodo millet soaked overnight
  3. 2-3 tbsp roasted chickpea flour
  4. to taste salt
  5. pinch turmeric powder
  6. 2-3 tbsp fried onion crushed
  7. 1 tsp ginger garlic grated
  8. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  9. 1 tsp roasted coriander-cumin powder
  10. 2-3 tbsp mint leaves chopped
  11. 2-3 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
  12. 2-3 tbsp spring onion chopped
  13. 1 tsp sesame seeds
  14. Burger
  15. as needed oil to shallow fry
  16. 2 burger buns
  17. As needed cheddar cream cheese
  18. as needed mayonnaise
  19. pinch pepper powder
  20. as needed lettuce leaves
  21. 2 sliced tomato
  22. 2 onion rings

Instructions

Step 1

Boil the kodo millet in sufficient water till it is soft. Drain well and mix with all the ingredients for the patty. Form into 2 large patties and refrigerate for some time.

Step 2


Heat 1-2 tbsp. oil in a pan and shallow fry the patties on a low flame on both sides till well browned. Drain on a kitchen towel and keep aside.

Step 3

To assemble the burger - Spread cheddar cream cheese on one side of the burger and mayonnaise on the other. Sprinkle some pepper powder.

Step 4

Place a lettuce leaf followed by the patty, some more cheese spread, onion, tomato, lettuce. Finally close with the bun and serve as desired.
