About This Recipe

Sama Rice Nool Puttu(Idiyappam)

Sama rice nool puttu is a soft, string-like steamed dish prepared from finely ground sama rice (little millet) flour, gently cooked with steam to achieve a light and fluffy texture. This traditional dish is mildly flavored and is often enjoyed with coconut, jaggery, kadala curry, or vegetable curries, making it both versatile and comforting.

Sama rice (little millet) is rich in dietary fiber, plant-based protein, and essential minerals such as iron, magnesium, and phosphorus, which support digestion and improve energy levels. Its low glycemic index helps regulate blood sugar levels, making it suitable for diabetics and those managing weight. Little millet also promotes gut health, supports heart health, and provides sustained energy while being naturally gluten-free, making sama rice nool puttu a wholesome, nutritious, and easily digestible meal suitable for all age groups.
